Choose a plan and pay on the product page (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal or crypto). 2. The eSIM QR code arrives by email; install it before you travel (Settings > Mobile/Cellular > Add eSIM). 3. On arrival, select the eSIM for mobile data and turn on data roaming for it. Your own SIM stays in the phone for calls and SMS. Data-only: the eSIM has no phone number. Requires an eSIM-compatible, carrier-unlocked phone. ## Your eSIM for France, online before you leave the airport One plan covers all of France - Paris, the Riviera, Provence, the Loire and beyond - so a single eSIM handles the whole trip. Scan the QR code before you fly, switch off airplane mode on arrival, and you are connected immediately. ## Connected at Paris CDG, Orly and Nice The eSIM activates the moment you turn off airplane mode at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Orly (ORY), Nice (NCE) or Lyon (LYS). Your RER B ticket, taxi app and maps are ready before you reach the platform. ## Coverage from Paris to Provence France's networks - Orange, SFR, Bouygues and Free Mobile - give you 5G across the cities and dependable 4G through the regions, from the vineyards of Burgundy and Bordeaux to the lavender fields of Provence and the beaches of the Cote d’Azur. ## The Metro, RER and TGV You will have data across the Paris Metro and RER - much of the network now has mobile coverage underground - so live navigation works between stations. The same eSIM keeps you online on the TGV as you speed down to Lyon, Marseille or Bordeaux, with only brief drops in the longest tunnels. ## France by Eurostar or ferry: the border is in England If you go by Eurostar from St Pancras, by Eurotunnel from Folkestone or by ferry from Dover, the French border check - including the EU's Entry/Exit System fingerprints and photo - happens before you leave the UK. Eurostar reaches Paris in about two hours 16 minutes, and the Dover-Calais crossing takes an hour and a half to an hour and 40 minutes, with dozens of sailings a day between DFDS and P&O. Air France and British Airways fly Heathrow to Paris in just over an hour. France follows the Schengen rules, and officers can ask to see travel insurance, money for your stay, your accommodation and a return ticket. Your GHIC covers state healthcare, and 112 reaches the emergency services (gov.uk, updated 11 August 2026). France is one hour ahead of the UK, and sockets are types C and E. ## FAQ ### Does it work on the Paris Metro and RER? Yes - much of the Paris Metro and RER now has mobile coverage underground, so maps and transit apps work between stations. Signal can briefly drop in older tunnel sections. ### Will it work on the TGV to the south of France? Yes. You stay online on the TGV between the major cities; coverage dips only in the longest tunnels and reconnects automatically. ### Is coverage good in Provence and on the French Riviera? Coverage is strong across Provence, the Riviera and the main tourist regions. Remote hilltop villages and deep countryside can thin out, as on any network. ### Where do I do the EES border check when I take Eurostar or the ferry to France? In the UK, before you leave: the Foreign Office says entry details for travel through Dover, Eurotunnel at Folkestone or Eurostar at St Pancras are taken at the border there (gov.uk, updated 11 August 2026). --- Source: https://www.esimpass.co.uk/esim/esim-france - eSIMpass, Elemento Logico Lda, Portugal - help@esimpass.com
