Your eSIM for Colombia - Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena
A single plan covers Colombia, so the same eSIM works in Bogota, Medellin and the Caribbean walls of Cartagena. Set it up before you travel and you are online for transfers and maps the moment you land.
Arriving at Bogota and Cartagena
The eSIM activates when you turn off airplane mode at Bogota (BOG), Medellin (MDE) or Cartagena (CTG). Rideshare, maps and translation are ready before you reach the taxi.
Coverage in the cities and the coffee region
Colombia's networks (Claro, Movistar and Tigo) cover Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena and the coffee region with solid 4G and 5G in the cities. Remote stretches of the Amazon, the Sierra Nevada and the back roads can drop out, so download offline maps for those trips.
Colombia from the UK
Avianca flies non-stop from Heathrow to Bogotá every night, in about 11 hours, landing in the small hours. No visa is needed for up to 90 days, at the immigration officer's discretion, but you must show an onward or return ticket within those 90 days, and you cannot stay more than 180 days in any 12 months. Colombia recommends six months on your passport. Filling in the Check-MIG form on Migración Colombia between 72 hours and one hour before you fly is optional but speeds up arrival; San Andrés needs its own tourist card, bought at the boarding gate (gov.uk, updated 6 October 2026).
Colombia is five hours behind the UK in winter and six in British Summer Time. Sockets are flat-pin types A and B at 110 volts. Change money only at banks and authorised exchanges, never on the street, and use cash machines inside banks or shopping centres.
What your UK network charges
EE charges £8 a day (£40 a week), O2 Travel £7 a day (and Colombia is in O2's Travel Inclusive Zone on selected plans), Vodafone £8 and Three £5 on most plans.
