Your eSIM for Cape Verde - online across the islands
Cape Verde sits off West Africa and is outside any EU roaming arrangement, so a travel eSIM is the easy way to stay connected on Sal, Boa Vista and the other islands. Install it before you travel and you are online as soon as you land.
Getting online at Sal and Boa Vista
The eSIM connects when you switch off airplane mode at Sal (SID) or Boa Vista (BVC), the main resort gateways. Your hotel transfer and maps are ready before you reach the shuttle.
Coverage in the resorts and beyond
Cape Verde's networks (CVMovel and Unitel T+) cover the resort areas of Santa Maria, Sal Rei and the island towns with 4G. Coverage is focused around the populated and tourist zones, so download offline maps if you are exploring the volcanic interior or quieter islands.
Cape Verde from the UK: register five days before you fly
British passport holders can visit Cape Verde for up to 30 days without a visa, but every visitor must pre-register online at least five days before arriving and pay the airport security fee, the TSA - 3,400 escudos (about 31 euros) for international flights - on Cape Verde's official EASE platform. Since 1 July 2026, anyone who arrives without having done it pays double the fee at the border. The registration lasts a year, and children under two are exempt. Your passport must be valid for six months after you arrive (gov.uk, updated 28 July 2026).
Most British holidaymakers fly direct to Sal or Boa Vista in about six hours: TUI from Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow, and easyJet from Gatwick, Manchester and Bristol. Cape Verde is one hour behind the UK in winter and two in British Summer Time. Sockets are the European two-pin kind, so pack an adaptor.
What your UK network charges there
Cape Verde is outside every UK network's Europe zone. EE charges £8 for 24 hours with only 500MB of data, O2's O2 Travel pass is £7 a day, and Vodafone sells eight-day data passes from £10 for 50MB to £40 for 1GB, noting that 4G is not available there. Three's own checker lists no data service in Cape Verde at all.
