Unlimited per day, or per-GB bundles

Unlimited Data eSIM: How It Works

We sell both: unlimited plans priced per day with no allowance cap, and per-GB bundles from 1GB to 50GB. They start their validity at different moments and only one of them tethers - here is how to pick.

What Does "Unlimited" Actually Mean?

Updated:

"Unlimited" rarely means uncapped. On many travel plans you get a set amount of full-speed data each day - often 1GB or 2GB - and once you pass it your connection is throttled to a much slower speed until the next day. Our unlimited plans work differently: there is no daily allowance to run down, though fair-use throttling may apply.

Neither shape is better in the abstract - they suit different trips. An unlimited plan is priced per day and saves you counting gigabytes, which suits short, data-heavy trips. A per-GB bundle from 1GB to 50GB suits longer trips where you would rather buy once and pace yourself, and it is the only one of the two that can share data by hotspot.

eSIMpass sells both across 200+ countries, delivered instantly by QR code with no app and no activation fee. One difference matters before you buy: a per-GB bundle only starts when the eSIM first connects at your destination, while an unlimited plan runs on the travel dates you select at checkout - the days count from your chosen start date whether the eSIM is installed or not.

Unlimited Data eSIM: How It Works

How to Choose the Right eSIM

Match the plan shape to how you actually travel - then install it at the right moment.

1

Estimate your real usage

Streaming and hotspot use eat data fast; maps and messaging barely touch it. Be honest about your habits, then size a per-GB bundle to cover your days - or go unlimited and stop counting.

2

Buy your plan online

Choose your destination and plan, pay by card, PayPal or crypto, and your QR code arrives by email within minutes. No app to download.

3

Install at the right moment

Per-GB bundles can be installed at home on Wi-Fi days ahead - the clock only starts when you first connect at your destination. Unlimited plans run on the travel dates you selected at checkout: install any time before your start date, and make sure the eSIM is on your phone by that date, because the days count from it whether the eSIM is installed or not.

eSIMpass eSIM vs the Alternatives

How our per-GB and unlimited plans compare with daily-capped "unlimited" offers, local SIM cards and rented hotspots.

Both of our plan shapes avoid the daily cliff-edge that capped "unlimited" offers rely on - pick per-GB to tether and pace yourself, unlimited to stop counting.

How Much Data Do Heavy Users Really Need?

Not sure which shape you need? Check what your trip actually burns - if it is more than this, an unlimited plan may be simpler.

Light
1GB / week

Maps, WhatsApp, email and occasional browsing

Standard
3-5GB / week

Social media, photo uploads, music streaming and daily navigation

Heavy
20-50GB / trip

Video streaming, long hotspot sessions and working from a laptop

What You Get Either Way

No daily cliff-edge

A per-GB bundle runs at full speed until it is used. An unlimited plan has no allowance to run down - fair-use throttling may apply, but there is no fixed daily ceiling that clamps you at 2pm.

Priced for the trip you are taking

Pay per gigabyte when you can predict your usage, or per day when you would rather not think about it. Either way you only pay for the trip in front of you.

Top up anytime

Burn through a per-GB bundle faster than expected? Top it up from your account in minutes - same eSIM, no new QR code.

Instant, no app, keep your number

Delivered by QR in minutes, no app to install, and your home SIM stays active for calls and SMS via dual SIM.

Unlimited Data eSIM FAQ

Do you sell a truly unlimited data eSIM?
Yes. Unlimited plans are priced per day and run with no allowance cap, though fair-use throttling may apply. They do not support hotspot or tethering, and they run on the travel dates you select at checkout - the days count from your chosen start date whether the eSIM is installed or not. If you need tethering, a per-GB bundle from 1GB to 50GB is the better fit.
What does "unlimited" really mean on a travel eSIM?
Across the industry it usually means a set amount of high-speed data per day - often 1GB or 2GB - after which speed drops sharply until the next day. Ours has no such daily allowance to run down; fair-use throttling may still apply, and hotspot or tethering is not supported.
Should I pick unlimited or a per-GB bundle?
It depends on the trip. Choose unlimited for short, data-heavy trips where you would rather not count gigabytes - you pick your travel dates at checkout and the plan runs exactly on them. Choose a per-GB bundle if you need hotspot or tethering, if you prefer not to commit to fixed dates - its clock starts only when you first connect at your destination - or if your usage is predictable enough to size it.
How much data do I need if I stream a lot?
Roughly 1GB per hour for standard video and up to 3GB per hour for HD. A heavy streamer on a two-week trip is well served by a 20GB to 50GB bundle, or by an unlimited plan if you would rather not track it at all.
Will my phone work with these eSIMs?
eSIM support is standard on phones from 2018 onward - iPhone XR and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later - as long as the handset is network unlocked. Check our eSIM compatible devices list before you buy.
What happens if I use up a per-GB bundle?
Top it up from your account in minutes: the extra data goes onto the same eSIM, with no new QR code. If the eSIM has expired or its network does not offer top-ups, buy another plan and scan the new QR code instead. Unlimited plans have no allowance to use up, but you can add more days to them the same way.
Do these eSIMs include a phone number?
No - every plan carries data only, whether per-GB or unlimited. Your home number stays live for calls and SMS through dual SIM, and voice calls go over WhatsApp or FaceTime using the plan's data.
Are there activation or hidden fees?
None at all. The checkout price is the full price - no activation fee, no top-up requirement, no auto-renewal. Every plan is prepaid, so a surprise bill simply cannot happen.
When is a per-GB bundle the better choice?
When you need hotspot or tethering, which unlimited plans do not support, or when you prefer not to commit to fixed travel dates. A per-GB bundle only starts counting when it first connects at your destination, so it fits open-ended trips; an unlimited plan runs exactly on the travel dates you select at checkout.
Can I use my eSIM as a personal hotspot?
Yes, but only for Data Plans with a fixed data allowance. Unlimited plans do not support hotspot or tethering.
I am visiting several countries - can one plan cover them?
Yes. Regional plans such as the Europe eSIM (31 countries) or the Asia eSIM cover a whole region with a single QR code and full-speed data. For multi-region trips you can install several eSIMs side by side and switch between them in settings.
Can I buy one of these eSIMs after I arrive?
Yes. Delivery is instant by email, so you can buy on airport Wi-Fi or at your hotel and be online minutes later. Installing before departure is simply more convenient.
